Mr. Schwamp is a Mayberry citizen seen in at least 26 episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. He never speaks, however Andy and Barney frequently address him by name. The actor playing him has never been identified. Mr. Schwamp (or Mr. Schwump) has also appeared in Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.. When the cast and crew were later asked who the actor was that portrayed Mr. Schwamp, no one could seem to remember.

Such a weird little anecdote.
