Posting the Gilligan’s Island theme for two reasons:

1. When I got my start on tumblr I used to post TV theme songs.

2. Sad to say that the actor who played the Professor, Russell Johnson, passed away today [as did the actor who played Barty Crouch SR interestingly enough] so maybe by uploading this it’s kind of a tribute.*

*FUN FACT: In the first season of Gilligan’s Island, the Professor and Mary Ann weren’t included in the theme. It went Gilligan, the Skipper (too), the millionaire, (and) his wife, the movie star, and the rest. Bob Denver/Gilligan was instrumental in including the Professor and Mary Ann in the theme. So this is also a kind of tribute to Bob (who passed in 2005)

*DID YOU KNOW: The Professor’s full name is Roy Hinkley and (according to Gilligan’s Island creator Sherwood Schwartz) the Professor has 6 degrees. Speaking of names, the Skipper’s name is Jonas Grumby, Mrs. Howell’s first and maiden name is Eunice Wentworth, Mary Ann’s last name is Summers (people tend to forget that for whatever reason), and Gilligan’s first name is Willy- at least according to Sherwood Schwartz
